For this assignment I'd like you to make a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Admission is "suggested donation"-this can mean a quarter if you want! Spend some time browsing through the museum. Then, do the following:

First, choose two pieces of art that you think should be displayed next to each other. Describe each of the works, focusing on the ways they are alike and different.

Second, discuss the effect(s) of putting these pieces together.Ý Do they affect each other? How? What might viewers see or notice that they wouldn't otherwise?

Finally, discuss some of the challenges of assessing art, and draw a conclusion about the effects of juxtaposition.

Two copies, 400-600 words, due Tuesday, February 5.
