We all take slang for granted, but slang terms frequently have interesting roots. For this essay, choose a slang term that you feel has a "history." First, discuss the original meaning(s). How was it originally used? Next, describe the development of the slang use of this term. What events, trends, or cultural changes may have influenced its shift in usage? Be thorough, and form a logical analysis of how the new slang meaning came to be. Finally, what does this development suggest about definition and our role in it? I encourage you to use various dictionaries or other sources-try to use at least one. However, you MUST use correct MLA citation for any information you choose to apply to your essay.
