Take a few moments to think of a controversial issue that is of interest to you. Make sure this issue has two opposing sides. In an 800-1000 word essay, make an argument for your side of the issue. You MUST address the opposing side as well. Include the opposing argument as a way of supporting your own view.

Please avoid discussing abortion, the death penalty, or affirmative action. These topics are over-discussed already. Aside from those, the choice is yours. Remember: This is an argument. Try to persuade your readers that your argument is stronger than your opponent's.
