Take a few moments to think of a controversial issue that is of
interest to you. Make sure this issue has two opposing sides. In an
800-1000 word essay, make an argument for your side of the issue. You
MUST address the opposing side as well. Include the opposing argument
as a way of supporting your own view.
Please avoid discussing abortion, the death penalty, or affirmative
action. These topics are over-discussed already. Aside from those,
the choice is yours. Remember: This is an argument. Try to persuade
your readers that your argument is stronger than your opponent's.
Due Thursday, March 14: Two short paragraphs, each summarizing a side
of the issue. Also, a working works cited of 2 sources, one dealing
with each side.
Due Tuesday, March 26: Two copies of your essay. You must use at
least 4 sources.
