| Expectations There will be a mid-term and a final examination. Other written work will be a short essay (3 pages) before the mid-term, a longer paper (8 pages), and two one-page responses to materials presented in the visual hour and considered in association with the readings. Each class member will serve as a discussion initiator several times during the semester. It is vital that everyone come prepared to discuss the material as this is not a lecture course. Class participation counts 20% in the final grade. Your instructor will provide more detailed information.
