- Don't bite down on hard candy, whole apples, ice or anything else hard.
- Don't chew bubble gum, chewing gum or stick candy.
- Swallowing or eating will be difficult until the child adjusts.
- The tongue can be irritated until the child adjusts.
- Don't play with the wire with your fingers or tongue.
- If the space maintainer loosens, contact clinic for an immediate appointment. The tooth can be damaged by decay,
etc.- If the wire breaks, contact the clinic.
- There will be a minimum fee for repair.
- The space maintainer may need alteration when permanent replacement teeth begin to erupt.
- If you do not fully understand why this appliance is necessary to insure good dental health, please ask.
