		n Excess levels of bilirubin in blood n Bilirubin can accumulate in interstitial fluid, mucosa, skin and developing teeth n Causes include- n Erythroblastosis fetalis n A hemolytic anemia of newborns secondary to blood incompatibility n Biliary atresia n A sclerosing process of the biliary tree n Premature birth n  Internal hemorrhage
