Nutrition Components of Pathophysiology

A number of underlying mechanisms in the development of different diseases are rooted in nutritional issues. Examples of such diseases are Diabetes mellitus, Coronary Heart Disease, and some anemias. At present, the Nutrition theme leaders are collaborating with the Section Leaders in the Pathophysiology course and with the Curriculum committee to identify opportunities to explicitly integrate a discussion of nutrition into relevant units, syllabi and case discussions. In addition, there is a commitment to provide resources to support links to other sites with similar case information. As an example, see CASES in the Nutrition Tools box on the Nutrition home page.
