Note the stellate appearance of the lumen, the thick muscularis consisting of two or more layers, and the relatively thick adventitia containing fat, vessels, and nerves.  Under higher magnification examine the characteristic transitional epithelium, and note the dome-shaped or bulging appearance of the surface cells and their more intense staining affinities.  Observe the direction of the muscle bundles in the muscularis, and locate blood vessels and nerves in the adventitia.
