	• Acute Phase – swelling and reddening at the site of infection – fever, malaise, and generalized swelling of the lymph nodes. – The liver and spleen may become enlarged • Chronic Phase – cardiac disease (cardiomyopathy) – digestive abnormalities. – Patients may develop congestive heart failure.
