Recommended Books: The course will be self-contained but for background study, the following books are recommended. Appropriate sections for study will be posted on a password protected web-site.

Requirements: Graded homework, midterm and final exam, active participation in class will be considered for improving the final grade.  Assumed prior knowledge: Calculus, some vector calculus, some differential equations, basic chemistry and basic thermodynamics.
