Welcome to Introduction to Physical Oceanography! The objective of this course is to provide an understanding of the stratification, circulation and mixing within the ocean, with an emphasize on ocean coupling with the atmosphere and its role in the global climate system (the ocean’s role in the climate system). The lectures serve as an introduction for those specializing in physical oceanography, and provide the background of ocean circulation and stratification for those in related research areas.
