The course works with all four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) and will also introduce you to Arab cultures. Arabic is the primary language of instruction.

By the end of the semester, you will be able to:

1. Read and write in Arabic (i.e. be familiar with the letters and the sounds)
2. Initiate, respond to and maintain simple conversation on familiar topics, such as who you are, what you do, your family, etc.
3. Read simple, short passages on familiar topics and understand their content with the help of a dictionary.
4. Write simple compositions on familiar topics, such as a typical day of yours, a description of your family or your home town.
