S. R. Faruqi on some of Ghalib's finest verses from entirely ==>UNPUBLISHED<== ghazals

In the FIRST column of the chart below are the ghazal (or sometimes verse) numbers that I use in this website, the year of composition, and the number of verses in the ghazal.

The list of verses in the SECOND column of the chart is drawn from FARUQI 2: inti;xaab-e urduu kulliyaat-e ;Gaalib (New Delhi: Sahitya Academy, 1993; 2nd ed., 1999). These are the verses that Faruqi included in own his 'selection' or inti;xaab -- the ones he thought were the finest in the muravvaj diivaan , and also the very best from the available unpublished work.

In the THIRD column are Faruqi's general recommendations from among the unpublished verses. They are here shown by the first word or two, with their page numbers in Raza's collection ('R'). All of them are also included in Dr. Gyan Chand's commentary ('GC'). These recommendations were given to me by Faruqi himself in 1980. I'm glad to be able to share them with others.
