"Early Islamic calcite grave marker; Ummayad - Fatimid period, ca 8th-11th century AD; Egypt. This rare piece is carved extensively with kufic calligraphy, and bordered by floral motifs. The upper section shows a semi-circular cartouche with partially worn iconographic elements. Professionally rejoined from three original fragments. 29 x 20 cm.
