There will be weekly submissions to the course newsgroup, a mid-term in-class exam, and a research essay (10-12 pages) due Dec. 14, on a topic chosen from the subjects covered in readings and lectures. Regular class participation and newsgroup submissions will constitute 25% of the grade, mid-term test 35%, final paper 40%. Required texts are at Labyrinth Bookstore, with reserve texts and Xeroxes at libraries.
