Andy Tan, an exchange student from Singapore, spent the Fall 2007 semester at Columbia's SIPA.
Andy took a year-long sabbatical from his official position to enroll in the one-year Masters in Public Management program at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, part of the National University of Singapore. As part of this program, he spent a semester at Columbia.
Andy's day job is in law enforcement with the Singapore Police Force. It has been his one and only job thus far since his undergraduate days at the National University of Singapore. His experiences have ranged from ground work (i.e. investigations, patrols, security operations) to staff planning (i.e. use of force policies, response plans to terrorism, development of new police capabilities) to staff command and development (i.e. leading large group of staff).
His interests include computers, photography, travelling.
