Weekly 1-2 page memos on readings, posted to the course listserve by 5 p.m. the day before the seminar; a 3-5 page research proposal; and a 20-30 page final paper.

You should purchase a Xeroxed packet containing the readings marked Packet from Metro Copies (Broadway between 86th and 87th sts). Call 875-1829 to order a packet, then pick it up the next day.

Readings marked Online are available on one of the e-journal servers, mainly JSTOR (American Journal of Sociology and American Sociological Review), but also Periodical Abstracts II (Social Forces).

Suggested readings are provided for those interested in pursuing the topic.
