My name is Alicia, I'm 21 years old and I'm a student in the forth year of the university of Le�n. I live in a flat with my parents near to the university. I love languages, that's why I chose a degree on English Philology and I'm also studying German; I wish I knew many languages to travel around the world and meet people from other countries. Within two months I will fly to New York with five classmates to know your city and learn as much as I can about your culture. I'm longing to go. Apart from that, what I'm really into is music and every activity related to it: dancing, singing, listening to songs...Keep in touch.   Ana My name is Ana and I�m studying a degree on English philology. I live in Le�n with my family and in spite of being a small city, I like it because it is a very quiet town and you always find something interesting to do. I also like big cities like Madrid or Barcelona very much, (actually I have family in both) but not to live there because life there is so stressful. I love languages (that�s why I chose this degree!), reading, dancing, all kinds of music, sports, going out with my friends and travelling. I believe it is fantastic to know new places, different cultures and different ways of seeing the world. I�d like to know more about America and I hope this cultural exchange will also help you to understand Spanish culture better.   Ariadna My name is Ariadna and I'm studying the 4th year ( there are 5 in my degree ) of English Philology. I'm very fond of languages and at the moment, apart form English, I'm learning French and Russian. In fact I'm toying with the idea of going to France when I finish my degree next year and take part in some courses to specialise in their culture and language. I do love travelling, it's great to break the humdrum routine of classes! ;) don't you think so? and the perfect chance to meet people from everywhere. That's why I think these students exchanges are a very exciting and enriching experience :) Apart from this, I'm keen on not very risky activities ;) : reading, swimming, art, all sorts of music ( I studied piano and cello ) and going out with my friends to chat in a caf� playing Trivial or cards, or enjoying our nightlife, definitely great...I'm looking forward to reading and learning more about your culture and I hope you find interesting our views on Spain :) Best wishes, Ari   Emma Delgado Perrier Hello, I'm Emma Delgado Perrier, and I'm half French, half Spanish. I'm 22. I lived in France till I got 18, in a little town in the South East, called Pierrelatte; and now I'm in Le�n. I live in a flat with my two elder sisters, Agn�s and Laetitia who both study Veterinary. I'm not original, I like music, cinema, reading, drawing and painting, having a coffee with my friends... I like almost everything linked to France and its culture (music, movies..., what an originality!). and I also love to go to theatre, although it's pretty hard to have good plays here. Nothing more, I suppose! Bye!   Esther Garc�a Mart�n Hi! My name is Esther, I'm 21 years old and as the other students I study English Philology at the university of Leon. I live at home with my parents, and I have one brother, Rub�n, but he does not live at home anymore because he is studying for his doctorate in Physics, in Madrid, where I love going once in a while to visit him and my friends. I love traveling, visiting new towns, countries, places I have never been before or places already known long time ago but that had made me feel something especial. I have been a few times in the states, and I am one of the students going to NewYork this spring. I am so excited about our trip! Apart from traveling, I enjoy listening to music, dancing or reading poetry. I hope we can get the best out of this exchange, learn a lot about the other culture and understand better life in such a different countries. Enjoy life!   Javier Hi! My name is Javier. I'm 21 years old and I'm studying a degree on English Philology. I live in Le�n with my parents, my elder brother and my turtle :) I chose this degree because I love languages (I'm studying French apart from English but I'd like to learn a lot more) Last year, I went to USA and I can say that it's a marvellous country. I visited Detroit and Ann Arbor (in Michigan as you will know) People were nice and kind and I felt very comfortable. Everything was very different compared with Spain but I think that 'variety is the spice of life'. My hobbies are travelling, listening to music and going out with my friends. I hope to know a little more the American culture with your help. I'm really excited about it!   Laura Hello, my name is Laura, 23. I'm excited with this student exchange, because I love travel and make photos wherever I went. Indeed, I would like to spend one or two years (or more, who knows) abroad after finishing my university degree. I live in Le�n, small city in the North of Spain, with my parents and my brother, although I really like to live alone, which means freedom and independency, wchich sounds fairly nice, isn't it? I like to listen to pop music, like Avril Lavigne and The Corrs, and in the case of Spanish music, I listen to Alex Ubago and El Canto del Loco. But the most enjoyable thing is going out with my friends: having diner, drinking a beer and dancing at the pubs. At the weekends, I usually watch football matchs at TV and in many cases, those entertaining evenings finish in rows, because the different opinions.   Lucia I�m Lucia,from Leon. I�m 23 and I�m studying English Philology. I live with my parents and I have a sister. I also have a little dog called "Mota". My hobbies are read, do jigsaws and talk in the messenger. I also love dancing, I�m learning belly dancing since 2002 and I�m completely mad about it!! I also like music and my favourite singer is Lauryn Hill, she�s the queen of soul.I was in the United States when I was 13 and I have a great memory of it, specially of people, they were very nice.   María My name is Maria. I`m 21. I'm from Guardo, a village in the north of Spain. My parents and my brother live there but I`ve been living here in Le�n for 4 years, due to university reasons; I wanted to study an English degree and Le�n was close to Guardo. For this reason, I chose this university. There are approximately 95 Km. between Guardo and Le�n, so I visit them frequently. There, they have everything. My parents have a steady job (my father in a power station and my mother has a dry cleaner's) and my brother goes to a secundary school. Here, I live in a college dormitory but I'm thinking of going to live to a flat with two years next year. It will be the last one here in Le�n because I'll finish my degree. Then, I don't know what I'll do. So, I enjoy life while I'm an university student.   Marta Hello! My name is Marta, I am 21 years old and I live in Le�n, a small town in the North-West of Spain, with my parents and my little brother. I also study at the University of Le�n and I am taking a degree in English Philology because I like literature and learning languages,specially English because I think it is a very important language nowadays and it is the language of the business, although I don�t want to be a teacher.   Raquel My name's Raquel, I'm 22 years old and I'm studying a degree in English Philology (I'm in my fourth year). I live in Le�n with my parents and my elder brother. Although this city is not one of the most important ones in our country it's a very special place to live in because it's a quiet town and at the same time it has all manner of appealing places to visit. For what it's worth its mountainous regions are outstanding and I particularly enjoy going there for long hikes.   Regina Hi! My name is Regina. I'm 21 and I am from Leon altough my mother is from Merida (a city in the south of Spain). I go there as much as I can but is rather far from my city. I live with my parents and I'm an only child so we're a very close-knit family. I'm outgoing, stubborn, affectionate and I always try to be positive and see 'the cup half full'. I love going to the cinema and reading all kind of books, especially epic fantasy narrative -wizards, knights, Merlin, Camelot, dungeons and dragons...and Harry Potter!:)-. I'm keen on English and American literature. I like Robbie Williams,Anastacia, Craig David, pop music in general and Chillout and Jazz.I have never been in the USA and I'm travelling to New York in April. I'm really excited with the idea and I'm very interested in discovering the city. The only thing I know about it is what I've seen on TV in 'Sex and the city' and, frankly, I guess it's not the most realiable portrait ;). I love meeting people from everywhere and I'm looking forward to find out more things about you and your culture.   Tamara My name is Tamara and I am 21 years old, I live in a flat in Le�n with my parents and my younger brother, with whom I get on very well and I am studying English Philology because I really like languages and literature. One of my hobbies is going out with my friends, with whom I enjoy a lot. I also like reading, listening to music, going to the cinema and one of my favourite hobbies is travelling. I like visiting new places, going sightseeing, learning new things about other places. I have never been to America, and it is one place that I would like to visit. I hope it will be soon. I also like basketball since my brother plays it and I usually go to see his matches. Le�n is not a very big city but I like life here, I could not live in a big place such as Madrid, the capital of Spain. I have been there a couple of times because some members of my family life there (my uncle, my aunt and my two cousins) and life there is very stressing. It is true that maybe here there are not many things to do as there can be in a very big city but you always find something to enjoy yourself with your friends. For example, in summer, my friends and I normally go to Asturias, another province near Le�n, but this one is on the coast of Spain so you can go to the beach and enjoy there and also visit their beautiful villages, although in Le�n there are also many beautiful villages.
