To: C-Kermit Developers and Testers Reply-to: kermit@columbia.edu Subject: C-Kermit 6.1 Beta.05 Here is C-Kermit 6.1 Beta.05. I thought Beta.04 would be it, but it had one fatal problem plus a few minor ones, fixed in Beta.05, plus some long-awaited and important VMS fixes came in. I'm hoping to be able to make the public announcement early next week, so let's hope this one is OK. CHANGES SINCE BETA.04 . Fixed: UUCP lockfiles were not always being deleted (this was the bad one). . Fixed: Various other subtle problems with UUCP lockfiles. . Fixed: Various problems with directory-name parsing in VMS (Lucas Hart). . Fixed: Labeled-mode transfers with relative pathnames in VMS (Lucas Hart) . Fixed: Problems transferring Fortran carriage control files in VMS (ditto). . Fixed: HP-UX 9.x on Motorola not to use floating-point timers (again). . Fixed: Unwanted "Alias => blah" messages removed during TCP connection. . Fixed: AT&T 7300 builds (thanks to Peter Mauzey). . Fixed: SET / SHOW { STREAMING, RELIABLE, CLEARCHANNEL } were invisible. . Fixed: HELP SET [ TERMINAL ] ESCAPE text. . Fixed: UNIX ../ and ./ stripping when sending. . Added: More-sensible SET MODEM TYPE keywords for USR and Megahertz. . Added: \v(model) for Digital UNIX. . Added: Assorted filetypes to AOS/VS text/binary patterns lists. . Added: More cross-references to HELP and SHOW messages. . Added: Missing switch descriptions in HELP SEND. UUCP lockfiles still need a lot of testing, especially on HP-UX and AIX. Most of the major VMS issues have been cleared up in this edit, except for CMU/IP, which I assume is still nonfunctional. Since Beta.05 really will be going public, I need as many binaries as possible to go with it. As before, if you can send in binaries that are not marked by "+", or that are not listed below at all, I'd appreciate it. Please upload them to: ftp://kermit.columbia.edu/kermit/incoming/ (in binary mode of course) with names like those used in the binaries list bwlow.
