Transcription Services - Medical

Through an RFP process, the University has entered into multi year contracts with four preferred, HIPAA compliant medical transcription vendors chosen to provide accurate, timely, secure and cost efficient transcription services to all faculty practices, medical departments and University health affiliates. The University strongly encourages use of these vendors.

In conjunction with the RFP, the University has also contracted with 11 additional qualified, HIPAA compliant medical transcription vendors with whom one or more departments have previously done business. While these vendors are typically less price competitive and/or were deemed less certain to be capable of providing quality service on a University-wide basis, they have been approved for use by departments that wish to do so.

In order to ensure full compliance with HIPAA requirements, departments are asked to use only preferred or qualified transcription vendors. Accounts Payable has been asked to make payments solely to preferred or qualified transcription vendors. Exceptions to this rule are discouraged, and may be authorized by the Office of HIPAA compliance upon execution of an approved compliance agreement by the service provider.
