Augustine, City of God, I.P-4, 15-36; II.2, 14; III.31; IV.1-4; V.P-1, 8-26; VI.P; VIII.1-12; X.32 [last para.] (pp. 5-10, 24-47, 49-50, 63-65, 132-39, 179-81, 188-225, 298-316, 425-26)

If you are feeling ambitious, read the headings of the chapters that you skip over.

What is Augustine's response to the pagans (and what are the pagans saying to make him respond)?

What does Augustine think of Plato?

How does Augustine reconcile free will and divine foreknowledge?

What is Augustine's attitude toward Rome?
