| I, Anmo Kim, am a graduate student at Columbia University in the City of New York. I have been struggling with my Ph.D program at the department of Electrical Engineering since 2003 fall. My research interest is information coding in neural systems. Yes. It's a real neuron, not a computational unit in neural network systems or something human-made. My ultimate goal is to come up with a mathematical model of biological neurons for engineering purposes. My advisor, Aurel A. Lazar, motivated me into this area, which seemed adventurous (and still is). For now, I'm concentrating on real neurons and performing some experiments to obtain data from the olfactory system of fruit flies under a collaboration with Center for Neurobiology and Behavior. |
