The Alliance Graduate Summer School is an event organized by the Sustainable Development Doctoral Society of Columbia University.

The Alliance Graduate Summer School began as a student-led initiative in 2012 in an effort to promote interdisciplinary exchanges between doctoral and masters students researching the nexus of science and policy at Alliance institutions. The Summer School brings together world-class professors, industry experts and PhD students for the exchange of ideas, intellectual discourse, and joint-learning opportunities through a mixture of guest speakers and workshops.

Last year was the 6th annual edition. It took place from May 29 to June 02, 2017, in Paris.

The focus for this 6th edition was on Research Methods for Sustainable Development and their application in economics, natural science and policy. We focused especially on remote sensing, network analysis and high-resolution data, with lectures and workshops for participants to apply spatial analysis tools (such as Google Earth Engine) and data visualization softwares.
