IEOR 3608, Fall 2001: Homework 06

Assigned: Friday, October 12, 2001
Due: Friday, October 19, 2001, 1PM, in boxes inside IEOR department office

General Instructions

  1. This homework covers material from lectures on 10/10 and 10/15.
  2. For each problem where you have to solve using the simplex method, you should show your work. In particular, you should show the results of each iteration, either as a tableau, or as a set of equations. You can follow the details either of the method used in class, or the one used in the textbook.
  3. You must write down with whom you worked on the assignment. If this changes from problem to problem, then you should write down this information separately with each problem.
  4. Numbered problems are all from the textbook Introduction to Mathematical Programming.

Problems

  1. p. 188, Problem A3. Solve this problem using goal simplex. Be sure to show the results of each pivot.
  2. p. 188, Problem A6. Solve this problem using LINDO. Show the input and output.
  3. p. 212, Problem A5. Do this problem by hand.
  4. p. 222, Problem A2.
  5. Extra credit P 226, Problem B8. (We did not cover this topic in class, but it is in the book.)
