Due:
Thursday, April 14, 2005, in class
General Instructions
- Please review the
course information.
- You must write down with whom you worked on the assignment. If this
changes from problem to problem, then you should write down this
information separately with each problem.
- Numbered problems are all from the textbook Scheduling:
Theory, Algorithms and Systems.
Problems
- Problem 8.2
- Towards the end of the notes on flight scheduling in the time-shared jet business, an integer programming
formulation is discussed, but the constraints are only given in words. Please write equations that
model these constraints. (There are 6 of them.) Please use the variables defined in the notes plus
any additional variables you need.
- Pages 7 and 8 of the notes on scheduling in transportation give an integer program with an
objective function and 15 constraints. Please explain in words what the objective function measures and
what each of the 15 constraints measures.
- Write a one-page report about the progress on your project so far. You must show significant
progress from your proposal. (Please turn this in on a separate piece of paper).
