In teaching this course, my aim is to provide an opportunity to explore regression analysis and related tools on a deeper level than is possible in the required core statistics class.

I expect the course to yield positive results on four levels: 

• The course will receive superior ratings by the students at the end of the semester, as measured with the course feedback and evaluation form. 

• Students who have taken the course will exhibit superior academic achievement in subsequent courses at Columbia Business School that build upon the modeling and data analysis concepts from B8114. 

• Students who have taken the course will be successful at finding highly desirable employment opportunities, in part because of their superior understanding of statistical methods. 

• Students who have taken the course will enjoy long-term success in their lives and careers, making significant and positive contributions to society.
