Juran is a winner of thirteen teaching awards at Columbia Business School and at Cornell's Johnson School, including the Robert W. Lear Service Award, the Margaret Chandler Memorial Award for Commitment to Excellence, the Dean's Award for Teaching Excellence in a Core Course, and the Singhvi Prize for Scholarship in the Classroom. His research on the modeling of human factors in productive systems and the management of quality has appeared in Management Science, Journal of Operations Management, and other journals.

Juran earned his Ph.D. at Cornell, concentrating in the fields of Operations Management, Operations Research, and Organizational Behavior.
