Mission

The mission of the Decision, Risk, and Operations Division of Columbia Business School is to develop and teach general quantitative methods for the analysis of business problems and specific tools for the management of operations.

In teaching B6014 (Managerial Statistics), my aim is to support the mission of the DRO Division by providing Columbia Business School students with an intellectually stimulating and challenging course which contributes significantly to their overall learning experience at the School, providing valuable theories, frameworks, and concepts that are likely to enable them to identify and analyze business problems.

I expect the course to yield positive results on four levels: 

• The course will receive superior ratings by the students at the end of the semester, as measured with the course feedback and evaluation form. 
• Students who have taken the course will exhibit superior academic achievement in subsequent courses at Columbia Business School that build upon the statistical concepts from B6014.  
• Students who have taken the course will be successful at finding highly desirable employment opportunities. 
• Students who have taken the course will enjoy long-term success in their lives and careers, making significant and positive contributions to society.
