- Midterm 1 will be during class on October 11. You may bring one 8.5 by
11 inch piece of paper with writing on both sides. You may not bring any
calculators, cellphones or other electronic devices. All backpacks,
coats, etc. must be left on the side of the room. The exam will be held in
three rooms: 833 Mudd, 327 Mudd and 414 CEPSR. You will receive instructions on
which room to go to via email.
- Here is a sample midterm and the tableau for Problem 4 (which uses a
different method for describing simplex). Here is the solution to the midterm.
- Here is an outline of the topics covered by midterm 1.
- The following file contains room assignments for midterm 1.
You must go to the room assigned. Please contact me if you have not been assigned a room.
- Here is an electronic copy of midterm 1. Here is the solution
to midterm 1.
- Midterm 2 will be during class on November 20. You may bring 1 8.5
by 11 inch piece of paper with writing on both sides. You may not bring
any programmable or graphing calculators, cellphones or other electronic
devices. All backpacks, coats, etc. must be left on the side of the
room. The exam will be held in 833 Mudd (i.e., the normal classroom).
- Midterm 2 is cumulative, so you are responsible for all topics
discussed before Exam 1 as well as the topics through Shortest Paths.
However, the focus of Exam 2 will be on the topics described in the
following review sheet, which also
includes review problems. Here are the solutions to these review problems (which are also
linked to above). This file has the
solutions to the recitation problems discussed this week.
- Here is a sample midterm 2 plus answer key. Please note that this class had
covered slightly different topics than we have. This midterm refers to
Bellman-Ford -- see the solution to the extra credit for Homework 8 for an
explanation of Bellman-Ford.
- Here is the LINDO output for sample midterm 2.
- There were two versions of Midterm 2. One, which can be identified
as being titled "Midterm 2" has the
following solution file. The other, which can be
identified as being titled "Exam 2"
has the following solution file.
- The final will be 1:10PM on December 20. You may bring up to TWO
8.5 by 11 inch sheets of paper with writing on both sides. You may not
bring any calculators, cellphones or other electronic devices. All
backpacks, coats, etc. must be left on the side of the room. The exam
will be held 833 Mudd.
- Here is a copy of my final exam from
last year. Also, here is a copy of a midterm I gave last year. The midterm was a
"true" midterm in the sense that there was only one midterm in my class
last year -- so it wasn't very appropriate as a sample midterm for this
year. However, as a study aid for the final, it should be helpful. Here
are the solutions to the midterm and
final.
