The PRISM is a semi-structured diagnostic interview designed to deal with the problems
of psychiatric diagnosis when subjects/patients drink heavily or use drugs.
The development and field testing of the PRISM was funded by a grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse awarded to Deborah Hasin, Ph.D. and her group at Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute.
The PRISM is used for making a number of DSM-IV Axis I and Axis II diagnoses
including alcohol and drug use disorders. With this interview, you will be able
to differentiate psychiatric disorders from substance-induced disorders and from
the expected effects of intoxication and withdrawal.
