From WPIX, January 11, 2014, reporting the fire that caused smoke and water damage to the deli, forcing it to close for however long it takes to make repairs. Hakmet Hasan and Wassim Malaeb, owners of Samad's being interviewed by WPIX reporters (the shop they are standing in front of is not the deli). This is not the first fire that shut Samad's down. The same thing happened when the popular hole-in-the wall Mexican takeout place next door, Nacho Mama, caught fire in 1995. So now they've had it coming from both sides. But can they survive the next lease renewal?
