Herta Rogalla and her mother at Charlottenburg Palace. Herta was our
housekeeper in Frankfurt in 1960 and she really became a part of our family
in later years when she lived in DC, she got to know my grandparents and
various aunts, uncles, and cousins, and she really was almost like another
aunt to us all. She spoke excellent English and moved to the DC area for
several years later in the 1960s before eventually returning to West
Germany. She was a Berliner and her mother had lived in Berlin all her life,
including during the War. I wish I had asked them to tell me some of the
stories of their lives!
