My grandfather Daniel with his nieces Luzia de Oliveira Santos (left) and her sister, Madalena, when he went back to Portugal in 1953 for the first (and last) time since he left for Mozambique around 1910. Luzia and Madalena are the daughters of Daniel's brother Francisco Maria dos Santos and his wife Luzia, and the granddaughters of João da Cruz Narciso, Daniel's father. Francisco had a different surname (dos Santos) than his father, brothers, and sisters, who all have birth surnames da Cruz Narciso. Note that the Luzia shown here is just one four in the family; see this page.
