This is the façade of the Audubon Ballroom at 165th Street and Broadway in
Manhattan, one of Harlem's great ballrooms of the 1930s and 40s (along with
the Renaissance Ballroom). It was the site of the assassination of
Malcolm X in 1965. The ballroom itself was razed by Columbia
University in 1989 for expansion of its medical center (which is just across
the street) but due to protests from the community the façade was preserved.
