The southwest corner of 110th Street and Broadway, a D'Agostino supermarket.
In other times this was the site of an Orange Julius, a Daitch Shopwell, and
a Grey's Papaya (and going back even farther, the Nemo movie theater,
1919-1963). Even after D'Agostino arrived, the old low-profile building on
this corner that housed it was torn down and a new Columbia building
erected, leaving D'Agostino homeless for a couple years. For a time both
D'Agostino and West Side Market were closed and University Food Market
on 115th Street had a virtual monopoly on grocery shopping.
