| Saint John the Unfinished. The light colored part on top is new. After no construction for many decades, a portion of the south steeple was completed, but just a portion. Sometime around 1980, St. John's started a program to train local people as stonecutters to finish the cathedral, but the project has been more off than on. This little growth spurt didn't appear until 30-some years hence, but I suppose that's not unusual for cathedrals. |
