political posts during his life and went to Taiwan in 1949, where he
had the lay Buddhist Li Bingnan as a student.

Author of some seminal books on Chinese Buddhist history and
doctrine through the 1930s, including his History of Chinese Buddhism
中國佛教史 first published in 1947. The only information I have
regarding his dates comes from Zhou Xia 周霞, Zhongguo jindai fojiao shixue mingjia pingshu 中國近代佛教史學名家評述, p. 96. Perhaps he disappeared during the Cultural Revolution? Article on his writings from Xianggang Fojiao.
