The forums will be places to discuss things up on other parts of the site. The reason I suggest they work like Slashdot (perhaps even on its underlying Slashcode) is that Slashdot's pages fit a lot of info into one place. You have a headline, a summary of the article, with links, a link to a place where you can comment; in the sidebars you have topic headings, recent headlines, surveys, etc. The icons make it easy to tell what the topic of an article is at a glance. Moderators post new articles to begin discussion. I am now thinking that maybe there will not be a separate forum-- the We Ownz part and the They Ownz part may just be shaped like the Slashdot front page, and the comments will be where students interact.
