the end of the pomo novel affair
you may remember or can scroll down to see a posting a while ago about junk email to my stanford account that appeared to be a pomo mashup (tangent - the word reminds me of when i tried to exapt mashup to refer to mutts) of classic Dickens. many more installments followed, the bulk of which i won't bother to post (but may publish some day!), that traced out a heartbreaking story. earlier this month the serial appeared to draw to a close, and in a curious but i believe consistent with its heritage denoument, the author made a plea for readers to invest in some (made-up?) stock. an english grad student could write a thesis on this web of connections between Copperfield, bogus investment tragedy, and the way that random pasted excerpts reveal our inner achronic orphan.
