this site was a whole saturday

night's entertainment: http://www.sasi.group.shef.ac.uk/worldmapper/index.html
- for not just me, even. within are maps of the world where country's areas reflect various statistics. sounds dry, but it's good clean nerdy fun. at least until they start putting up disease and disaster maps, that is. they're adding tens of maps a month, and you can see all that's to come in the index. while the bloat of asia in the population maps might get boring (see total births, for example) - i mean, who really cares about asia anyway? - you can roll with old europe and their monopoly on insurance and travel. the maps on prostitution are nifty. oh, wait, that was crude petroleum... and i don't know what "wretched dollar" means, but they'll have a map soon.
