About the Center
Columbia University's Dick Savitt  Tennis Center is the home court for the Men and Women's varsity teams. The center is also available for use by Columbia University alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students and anyone working in one of the Hospitals affiliated with Columbia.  Unaffiliated players may be sponsored by one of the members.  The center has 6 cushioned hard courts, all of which are covered by a state of the art air dome.  Each court has a blue surface that makes the tennis ball easy to see, and the lighting has been called by some tennis professionals as one of the best in the world.  The Tennis Center is located in a beautifully landscaped area of Baker Field ( 218th street and Broadway) which overlooks the Hudson and Harlem rivers. Parking is available on premises and the Tennis Center is easily accessible from the 215th street stop of the I.R.T. #1 train. It is a 10 minute walk from the subway station to the Center.

Public Transport


Subway
    Take the 1 subway line  to 215th street and walk to 218th street. Turn left on 218th street. The entrance to the tennis center is the second driveway  on your right. The driveway will come after the  football field and a stop sign. Its a 10 minute walk from the subway station to the the tennis center.
    You can also take the 'A' train to the last stop(207th street). Take the exit for Isham street on Broadway and follow the directions for the # 1 train. The walk to the tennis center will be 15 minutes.

Bus
The liberty line has an express service from the east side of Manhattan to Riverdale with a stop near 218th street and Broadway. Call Liberty lines at 718-652-8400 or visit their website at www. libertylines.com to get the schedule and the pick up and dropoff locations.

By Car


 

FROM MANHATTAN:
 Henry Hudson Parkway (West Side Highway) north to Dyckman Streeet exit and proceed east to Broadway (first major intersection).   Make a left on Broadway and go 20 blocks to 218th Street.  Left on 218th Street (Baker Field complex is on your right) and go three blocks to Seaman Avenue,  make a right into the driveway marked for tennis and crew.  The tennis and crew driveway is on the right immediately after the STOP sign and football field.

FROM WEST:  (Cars or Vans)
 Take George Washington Bridge and follow signs for Henry Hudson Parkway north or uptown (bear right on upper deck, left on lower deck).  Then follow MANHATTAN DIRECTIONS.  Buses are not allowed on Henry Hudson Parkway.

FROM WEST:  (Buses).
 Take George Washington Bridge and follow sign for 178th Street.  Proceed east to Broadway,  make a left and go north on Broadway to 218th Street.  Left on 218th Street (Baker Field Complex on your right) .  Take second right at Seaman Avenue for tennis and crew.

FROM NORTH:
 Take Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) or Cross County Parkway west to New York State Thurway (I-87) south (becomes the Major Deegan Expressway in NYC).  Exit at West 230th Street.  Make a right off the ramp and a left on to Broadway.  Go to 218th Street and make a right.  Follow MANHATTAN directions to tennis and crew driveway.

FROM NEW ENGLAND:
 Take Connecticut Turnpike (I-95) to Cross Westchester Expressway (I-287) at New York State line.  Proceed west to New York State Thruway (I-87) and follow NORTH directions.

FROM CENTRAL OR EAST BRONX:
 Take Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95) to Major Deegan Expressway (I-87) north.  Exit at West 230th Street.  Make left off ramp.  Follow NORTH directions.

FROM LONG ISLAND:
 Take Long Island Expressway to Clearview Expressway north, or Northern  State Parkway/Grand Central Parkway to Cross Island Parkway north to Throggs Neck Bridge.  Bear left after toll for Cross Bronx Expressway (I-95) and follow BRONX directions.
 You can also take Grand Central Parkway to Triboro Bridge.  Bear left  for Major Deegan Expressway  (I-87) and follow BRONX directions.

FROM SOUTH:
 Take New Jersey Turnpike north to Exit 18 (George Washington Bridge).  Then follow WEST directions.
