Subliminal - Derrick Carter - Centro-Fly - December 9, 1999 The music magic CONTINUES! Woooooow, Derrick Carter is now one of my all time favorite DJs. His brand of hard chicago house makes dancing completely effortless for me. Went last night to Subliminal's Thursday night party at the "new" club Centro-Fly (nee Tramps). The design of the club is nice with lots of black & white and circles - the centro theme - hardwood floors, spacious bar and areas to sit. The scene was very newyork fancy dressed up with nowhere else to go feel - people pushing the we're fabulous angle including a visable VIP fuzzy rope area that you can see from the main floor- geezous grow up people ;) Tried to yak with people and no go - once again the stares WHO THE HELL ARE YOU. *sigh* I miss Engage... The music was fucking fantabuloustastic! Once again Carter spins some amazing tracks - amazing mixing - amazing amazing amazing! He really blew me away the last time I saw him spin at Vinyl last year with Green Velvet. And now I know this man is the money! The opening DJ absolutly SUCKED - bad tracks - horrendous mixing - Ani Phearce was anything but fierce. The resident Erik Morello (sp) was more in the style and feel of Carter and was excellent. Not much else to say - dunno drink prices water was $4 I was ripped off with the $10 cover cause the other prices were $5 and comped. Anyone know these other lists at Centro-fly? All I can say was the music was AMAZING and even the clubsnobs were dancing last night :) THey might not be friendly to other people but at least the music moved them as well! Will Paul Van Dyk continue this string of awesome music parties tonight? be safe and enjoy... .\.\ichael -- sentinel ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Michael Hauben Teachers College Dept. of Communication Netizens Netbook http://www.columbia.edu/~hauben/netbook/ WWW Music Index http://www.columbia.edu/~hauben/music/ Amateur Computerist Newsletter http://www.columbia.edu/~hauben/acn/ Netizens Cyberstop
