Liberty: the long Line to nowhere Roseland, NYC 6/8/96 Ack! Well sounds like people just had to be lucky to get into Liberty last night, it didn't depend on what time you arrived. I met up with the Queens posse (Michele/Kim/Daniel (kozmo)/Ben/Brendon) at Kim's work and we went and had a delicious dinner in on the the Indian dives off 6th street - one of those restauarnts where its continually christmas, hah. Ben and Brendon decided to head to 12B. We all followed after dinner, and it was cool to see so many out of towners there! Hope most of you got in somehow!! Decided to jet eventually, take the ole subway up to roseland - got there around midnight to find a mad line - all the way round the cornor on broadway. It was moving but not too fast. Then it was Kim/Daniel/Michele/Franz and myself. The atmosphere was bad - people standing all over the place, no control over the line, it started to swell. I don't understand the deal with Roseland as they constantly deal with sold-out shows/lines/whatnot. EVentually we decided to try one last time at getting in at the front (Securit fella said into his microphone this line is fuked - was he ever right...) A fight broke out in front of us, people were trying to push their way in, all and all a bad scene. We decided to just get the hell out of there, and Kim, amazing Kim took charge yelling in the loudest voice (5 tickets for sale), sold them to two or three different parties. A little after we sold them (like around 1:45 or 1:50) the police annouced that roseland would no longer let ticket holders in. bastards at satteliite for overselling the place I guess and being lite on the security. Some split, some chilled at my place for a little while (can't wait to get a real place so I can REALLY invite others over.) I just know that lots of people won't be going to another satellite/essence party anytime soon. :( :( Who did I see there? 12B ---- Liz - wohoo! So nice to see you after you said summer would keep homehomehome Chris Green - glad I got you the tape before you left... Kittyn...hey hey hey :) John and Mattie - nice roof guys. Monica Franz - who joined up with us on the way out... Sarah S. Phil and Scooter from Cornell - I think I remember you from Mars now Phil. :) Have fun at the world trance festival in a month!! Chris/Poor not so-newly baltimorian - one of the first of what seems to be an exodus to the land of FUnky Breaks. :) Sarah D. my tired memory fails - but there were lots of people there coming and going all night it seemed. On LIne -------- Jazzy/Jwan - glad to chat for a few James Coyle/Piper/Twizzler - doing Line Duty it seemed. Was that you Karen M. right in front of us?? Tanni - hey there! Wish we could have talked longer. :) Mike McSweeny Mook most of been others... Did anyone hit any of the after parties?? sad that such a fiasco has to hit the NYC scene when things were slowly getting getting with the nice loft parties ever so often, and so on...But it looks like even the legal parties are having a hard time of it due to bad organization and all - look at Happiness in Philly and now this...
