Reality, Newbrunswick, NJ - Melody March 14, 1997 Friday night was packed full! First I met Jill/unrest to see her friend's recital at Julliard (every say hi to Jill! :) And WELCOME to the nyc-raves finally yay (: ) Then went home, and almost chickened out of going to reality because of the pooring rain - but luckally changed my mind! :) Caught a train to new brunswick, and should've realized the party would've been in a college bar - eck! The party was at the Melody - which I thought was supposed to be a club, but was just a bar with an upstairs area where you could dance... anyway, after getting past the downstairs bar and finding my way upstairs relized the music was awesome and I could dismiss the generic college kids hanging out on friday night all around me... went outstairs - found a smallish dance floor (too much was carpetted), and moved on in - luckally as the night progressed the thing that saved it was meeting two of the vibest people around for the first time! First ran into Anthony Magsajo (your white visor is the BEST thing - so easy to locate you :) ) later Geoff walked up and said HELLO cause he saw my ne-raves badge - yay - these things work wonders... later ran into Eve and talked a little and danced with her a some...... around 2am - the boucers came around and started shouting EVERYONE OUT - what? what? what the fuk??? So I guess bars shut down in jersey like well, EARLY. Luckily, Geoff knew what was going on, and Anthony and I hung with him a while (hopefully you were able to restore that laptop and everything on it ) and was nice enough to redirect us to the Indigo Jones for the afterhours. I wonder how much Planet X advertised, since there seemed to be very little non-Rutgers students in the crowd at the Melody, and even fewer of the followed over the Melody. SO the music was slamming, but as Geoff said, "The vibe is different here." And there wasn't a real big problem as when we first got there about 2:40 or so a bunch of Indigo regulars joined in the dancing, however the critical mass died not too long into the night, but the music was cool (Regis and Dan DC tag teaming, along with a few others). Then the IJ closed up around 5am, kicking people out - the three of us got a bite to eat and Geoff finally dropped us off at the train for our 5:43 trip back towards New York. So what might have been a less than friendly night was saved by two of the nicest people. Welcome to NYC-Raves guys and hope to see you both soon. I really found this to be one of the better party nights I've had recently just because of how nice you both were. Take it easy and see you around :)
