Ruby Laughter, LI, NYC March 16 c/o Bobbles!! The space was *really* nice, although a bit small. This was a store-front recording studio with the two music rooms underground, and a living room with couches and TV upstairs. (This party was truely underground! heh) Being in the "basement" meant no windows - which meant the strobes worked wonders in the main room. It is amazing what this piece of electronics is capable of. Weird that each room had a raised space, I guess for a drummer or somesuch. However in the main room this gave more bass-power! yes. :) And the wall to wall carpetting proved extremely popular, especially in the Ambient room. People felt we were in someone's living room - heck it was Bob and our living room for the evening! Sadly, Bob's maximum number of people of 75 did not show (how many tickets did you sell total?) and so there were times when only one or two people were dancing. One problem was that the main room became a sweat bath after a lot of dancing - next time you use this space Bob, make sure to put some sort of additional Fans/cooling units in the main room somehow. Otherwise depsite some opening technical difficulties (the ground plug ripped out of the mainroom mixing board? ieee! Some sound problems, etc) the sound and lights were swell. (when was the last time you used that word? ;) ) (Other technical difficulties of a different sort too - hope everyone who got flats managed to purchase the tires they needed today.) As I was either, for the most part dancing in the hard room, or tending the water bar in the ambient room, things were pretty crazy. Ambient Room / Venus Flytrap - amazingly smooth set considering he didn't have a pair of headphones to use for most of the time. Missed Matt Lehrer - some people said there was some funky Electro going on! Heinous - some killer acid towards the end Missed Skinner - sorry - doing water bar duty! Dylan Dryzen - massive good set - taking us to another world! Frquency M - a great way to close out the night - Props out to the Ambient DJs too. :) Have fun in Toronto Sheldon! Shout-outs to everyone who was there, Rich/Spil for giving me a ride from Hugh's to the space, Mark/Machine Media/Huggy Bear/Venus Flytrap (WOW - some some list of nicknames ;) ) for giving me a ride to the train station, everyone who helped Bob run the party - including Margaret, the DJs and so on and so on. :) Oh and props to Paul and Laura who I shared the train rain back to NYC on the LIRR with. (See you both at Mars!) Oh yeah - almost forgot there were free lollipops and apples for all! :) And once again, please, please come to Bobbles's parties - they are da bomb. He throws smaller vibe filled parties which register as NILL on the "NYC-attitude" meter! As Hugh said, I am looking forward to the Grit parties to come...hope to see YOU there! love, /Michael - sentinel
