Venus, the Roxy, NYC, April 12, 1997 The planetary parties continue to deliver! One word - MUSIC, the music was absolutly fantastic - acid heads unite :) Miss Djax and Mike Dearborn had amazing slamming acid sets! Mike Dearborn's PA was before Miss Djax and was so smooooooooth And the 3 or so other DJs had a mixture of slamming detroit techno, minimal techno, acid and undeniable TECHNO TECHNO TECHNO - the likes of which I don't hear enough of! Advent weren't there sadly - and it sounds like hardfloor spun first, which meant must of us missed him - damn. And a 6am closure is never expected. I don't normally go to $35 parties - but in this case I only spent $25, as it pays to plan in advance (only wishing I KNEW I could go to sputnick to get the cheaper ticket now too...) And it was well worth it, the music was so refreshingly good Also the Roxy was a virgin space for myself as I hadn't been there before ;) Quite enjoyed the great wooden dance floor and the sound was EXCELLENT. The lasers were fun, but seemed to often get lost in the structural supports up high. Also it was very much a rave even if it was at Roxy - the crowd was not the Roxy Saturday night regulars - they probably went to some other club without a real line... Sadly, some of us got on line early and proceeded to wait about 2.5 hours :( in the rain which was worse - however the umbrella city was kinda neat when it finally sprung up, and people were friendly Wish I had gone to the afterhours Also shoutouts to everyone who went to dinner beforehand - that was really really cool - a nice vibe the entire tonight at the blue moon cafe - wish we could've taken over that restaurant space and brought the DJs from venus THERE! (already had enough lighting action with the action margerittes :) ) It was also really cool to see everyone who traveled to go to a NYC party from out of the city, upstate and all :) It was great meeting some new vravers! Hope you all enjoyed my stickers and lollypops :)
