A belated report for the ORB show in NYC :) ----- OOBE IS WHAT IT WAS! --- just back from the orb concert in NYC at Carbon - Alex P and company RIPPED IT UP! Their music, live, takes on a whole different element from recorded. It's just so dramtic and dare I asy "intelligent"? Whereas most dance music is physical and made for people to JACK IT UP, stuff from the Orb, Orbital and so on goes from light to heavy, buildups and breakdowns and just somethging to interest the mind (with all the crazy neat samples, and sounbd effects too) its the rightful sucessor to psychedelia from the 60s and 70s, stuff like Faust, Pink Floyd, and so on. anyway, they didn't varie their concept too much from the last show I saw so I guess commercial sucess leads to some stagnation - oh well. But still I love the Orb and as such get some emotionally attached to the music that it can only but make we feel better :) played favorites from all the albums, blue room, brain, fluffy clouds, the circus music and one other from pmme frites, great stuff from the new album AND some tracks I had NOT heard before... again - crazy crazy mad ass beats - so killer. hwoever the sound system has been MUCH sharper and better at roseland than at carbon - oh well... PLUS the crowd was loving them! that is always so cool when that happens. the lightshow wasm't as good as the last time I saw them either, but the projections got wackier and more planned out which is good... anyway...outta here :) .\.\ichael -- sentinel
