I don't think anyone mentioned (** means DEFINITELY worth the trip): Final Vinyl -- Second Avenue around 5th street on west side of street, specializes in R&B, early rock 'n roll, and novelty stuff, used and new -- vinyl ONLY. I haven't perused it lately...it used to be amazing, but my last impression was that it had gone downhill a bit. **Midnight Records -- 23rd street btw 7th and 8th -- near 8th on north side of street tucked under scaffolding -- (closed Sundays and Mondays)...the retail space companion to the mail-order operation...carries both vinyl (some used) and CD's, from the 50's to the 90's. When you go, pick up catalog and order from there if you don't see something (most CD's are NOT on display). Lots of Indy stuff -- R&B, garage rock, rockabilly, country, imports, punk, etc. The Pyramid -- 7th avenue, somewhere between 20th and 23rd, east side of street. Lots of used vinyl. Complete dive. Worth treasure-hunting. **Downtown Music Gallery -- 5th street just east of Bowery. Excellent selection of avant-garde music, alternative rock (CD's and Vinyl), also used vinyl and CD's...pseudo-descendant of the late great Lunch for Your Ears. **See-Hear -- not recordings, but all magazines, fanzines, and books on music. Excellent! 7th street east of 2nd avenue on north side of street -- underground (step down) Bleeker Street Jazz (I think that's what it's called) -- Bleeker street between Cornelia and Carmine -- rare jazz and others (lots of vinyl) Rare Records (again, maybe a slightly wrong title) -- Carmine west of Bleeker -- very narrow store...rare vinyl -- 50's -70's...you may have to ask and they bring it up on the dumb waiter. Also (sorry no addresses): Stryder The Hideout (one of the latter two MIGHT now be Subterranean) Both of the above are used record stores west of 6th Avenue.
