Joseph M. Masling, PhD is Emeritus Professor of Psychology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. He has written numerous articles on interpersonal and situational variables influencing projective tests, and has published widely on the empirical study of psychoanalytic concepts. Dr. Masling edited the first three volumes of the Empirical Studies of Psychoanalytic Theories series (Analytic Press, 1983, 1986, 1990), and co-edited with Robert F. Bornstein Psychoanalytic Perspectives on Psychopathology (American Psychological Association, 1993), and Empirical Studies of Object Relations Theory (American Psychological Association, 1994).
