Store Front Artist
Matthew Courtney paints on the black-and-white Washington Post at storefronts of the crowded SoHo streets. He first tapes black and white newspapers on glass windows. Using a black marker, he then outlines the figures. Next, he fills the figures with bright colors. He usually chooses stores that have been vacated for rented. Sometimes, when the indoor illumination lights up, the light shines through the windows and his work begins to glow. Price: 20 dollars a piece.
